Annual Earnings...

 Jane was hired at a new job making $22 an hour.  If she works the standard 2000-hour work year, how much will she earn in gross annual income for hours worked?   Jane also receives 10 vacation days at a pay rate of $160 a day.   As a bonus, Jane's boss has decided to reward all employees with a 10% holiday gift based off of each employee's annual gross earnings.   What would be Jane's bonus and total Annual Gross Income?

As a 2nd consideration, where would this be enough income to live?  Consider the Cost of Living to determine the answer.

How Much Wall Cover is Needed?

 Sam is shopping for wall covering. Before coming to the store,  Sam measured the walls of his house and found the following measures. 3 sides are 9 feet high. The 4th wall is a 4 foot serving wall. The length of 2 sides are 14 feet and the others are 16 feet. 

Sam's room also has a door that measures 36 inches wide by 84 inches high. Plus 2 windows that measure 3 feet by 3 feet. 

What is the total amount of wall covering needed to redecorate the room?

Summer Has Come...

 Only 6 school days left, Summer Break is upon us all. Before we go, one more problem to solve. 

If a student has 10 weeks of summer break, how many hours a day should dedicated to a form of reading, writing or mathematics if the goal is to achieve 135 hours over the summer. 

Only consider Monday through Friday. The family also plans to take a vacation out of town for 1 week to be free of work free. 

Making Money...

 John and Joe go out and start separate businesses.  They both sell the same thing in the same market.  John makes $10,000 a month.  Joe makes $50,000 a month.  What could possibly cause such a great disparity?  If John charges $100 an hour, and Joe charges $75 an hour, how would that affect the income stream?  How many hours would John and Joe have to work each month to earn the monthly income?

 If I were to tell you that a classroom had a range of Decibels from 26 dB to 100 dB, what would be the average of the decibels assuming that there were no extremes or long periods of highs or lows?

 If I tell you that we are going to invest $200 tomorrow, with a monthly contribution of $25 and an interest rate of 15% compounded monthly, how much money will be earned in 1 year, 10 years, and in 50 years?

Word Problem of the Day...

 The problem of the Day...RJ through 47 meters at a track meets on Saturday.  If he throws increasingly 25% more for the next 2 meets, how far will he throw at each respective meet?  Take your time, Use a table.  Sow your work.
